Pre(e)
pre(e)

In the summer of 2001, in Los Angeles, California, two like-minded artists met and decided that they had to make music together. In early October, 2001, pre(e) went to 29 Palms, California to record what would eventually become their self-titled Mini-CD. They spent a week in the Mojave Desert working with recording engineer, Charlie McGovern (Victoria Williams, the Starlight Desperation) on his mobile 8-track studio. The duo, Douglas Armour and Billy Davis set out to explore new grounds for creating pop music.

Washington D.C. native, Douglas Armour arrived in Los Angeles via San Francisco, where he quit his long time band and founded an underground art space called "Over Here." After being issued cease and dissist orders from Michael Jackson´s attornies regarding an exhibition in Los Angeles and New York City of contraband personal photographs of the "King and Pop," Douglas realized that he had accomplished everything in the art world that he had set out to do. Billy, originally from the heart of Texas, moved to the west coast via Athens, Georgia to pursue various art and music projects. Reaching what he deemed a logical end with his seminal arthouse band, "SAM", of Tom Grimley fame, Billy stepped out and started pre(e) with Douglas.

During the recordings, there were many discussions about methods of creating music. One reoccuring theme was the idea of detachment and mobility-- a nomadic sensibility. They both agreed that they were not interested in a particular music scene, but rather were more interested in change and movement as a modus of creating music. Pre(e) is currently living in Berlin, Germany and everywhere. Their self-titled Mini-CD, pre(e), is being
released by Ulftone Records in Europe on March 17th, 2003.
