“Chameleon” seems like an appropriate title for Jean Beauvoir’s first real solo-album in years. Having been recording with his hard-rock-outfit “Crown Of Thorns” for years and staying busy as producer and songwriter for such diverse artists as Lionel Richie, N-Sync, The Ramones, Kiss and many more, Beauvoir finally made the move and devoted an entire year to writing and recording his newest solo-album “Chameleon”.

As mentioned, the title couldn’t be more spot-on. From the opening licks of the Lionel Richie co-write “I wanna know” via the dancefloor-heat of “I don’t need ya”, the calypso-tainted “Where the river runs deep”, the rocking “Something to believe in” (Jean’s personal tribute the The Ramones) to the grand-finale of “Angel”, “Chameleon” lives up to it’s name.

Having been in the music scene since his early teens, Beauvoir cut his musical teeth by being part of the extravagant “Plasmatics” until then moving on to Little Steven’s band (who still remains one of his best friends). After being with him, he decided he wanted to give a solo-career a try and try he did. The first single of his first solo album “Drums along the Mohawk” was chosen as the title track to the Stallone movie “Cobra” and “Feel The Heat” went on to become a massive smash hit worldwide, still remaining on many rock stations playlists to this day.

For “Chameleon”, Jean recruited a stunning array of talent. Joining him on backing vocals is the amazing Myla, the remix for the first single was done by the Jiggy Joint-team who most recently worked for P-Diddy, Britney Spears and Arrested Development and the first video was shot by some of the most promising new faces in the German film community.

Beauvoir shows off his many talents on this album. There are few that are able to wear that many hats at one time but even fewer are able to pull off this task in style. Writing, arranging, producing, performing, mixing – none of these seem to challenge him to a point at which he hands it over to someone else; truly: a man on a mission.

It is an album that will surprise many people. It shows an amazing variety of styles, yet encompassed in one album that makes the listener grow with it from the first note to the
last. Jean Beauvoir has created a magnificent piece of music.
